Description
Crafts of the Mah Meri (Hma’ Meri) are part of the Orang Asli – the indigenous minorities of Peninsular Malaysia. The Orang Asli constitute less than 1% of the Malaysian population.
The Mah Meri are grouped under the Senoi sub-ethnic group, and there are only 2,896 of them according to JHEOA -Department of Orang Asli Affairs, 2003. They managed to retain much of their adat (culture and traditions) and intangible heritage, including their distinct Btsisi’ language, myths and stories, Jo-oh songs and dances, and handicrafts, including this bookmark
