Description
Crafts of the Mah Meri (Hma’ Meri) are part of the Orang Asli – the indigenous minorities of Peninsular Malaysia. The Orang Asli constitute less than 1% of the Malaysian population.
The Mah Meri are grouped under the Senoi sub-ethnic group, and there are only 2,896 of them according to JHEOA (Department of Orang Asli Affairs), 2003. They managed to retain much of their adat (culture and traditions) and intangible heritage, including their distinct Btsisi’ language, myths and stories, Jo-oh songs and dances, and handicrafts, including this bookmark
